Background
Borno State is located in the northeastern region of Nigeria. It is bordered by the states of Adamawa to the south, Gombe to the southwest, and Yobe to the northwest. The state also shares borders with the countries of Cameroon to the east, Chad to the northeast, and Niger to the north. The state was formed on February 3, 1976 when North-Eastern State was divided into Bauchi, Borno, and Gongola states.
